It is one of the most prominent Shakti Peethas in North India, located in the foothills of the Shivalik mountain range. The Goddess is worshipped here as the supreme power (Shakti).
Mythology
According to legend, the head of Devi Sati fell at this spot after Lord Shiva carried her burning body. The Maharaja of Mani Majra constructed the present main temple in the early 19th century to honor the Goddess.
