Chintamani is the fifth temple in the Ashtavinayak circuit. Ganesha is worshipped here as Chintamani, the retriever of the wish-fulfilling jewel (Chintamani) and the remover of all worries (Chinta). It is one of the larger and more famous Ashtavinayak temples.

Shri Chintamani Temple, Theur is a Hindu sacred place in Theur, Pune, Maharashtra, connected with Lord Ganesha (Chintamani). The temple is centered on Ganesha worship, so devotees commonly connect the visit with auspicious beginnings, obstacle removal, modak or durva offerings, and family prayer.
The greedy prince Gana stole the wish-fulfilling jewel (Chintamani) from Sage Kapila. The sage prayed to Ganesha. Ganesha appeared, defeated Gana in battle, and retrieved the jewel. However, Sage Kapila refused to take the jewel back and instead asked Ganesha to stay at Theur to remove the worries of his devotees. Thus, Ganesha remained there as Chintamani. Theur is also spiritually significant because Lord Brahma meditated here to overcome his restlessness.
Major observances connected with this profile include Rama-Madhav Punyatithi (October–November), Maghi Utsav (January–February), Bhadrapada Utsav (August–September). During these periods, devotees should expect heavier crowds, longer queues, and a stronger emphasis on aarti, utsav, and local temple customs.
A useful visit plan begins with the darshan window, then works backward through route, footwear and bag rules, offering guidelines, queue options, and local transport from Theur. For older shrines and high-crowd temples, early morning and non-festival weekdays usually give devotees more time for quiet prayer.
For devotional preparation, visitors can keep the practice simple: learn the main deity's name, carry only permitted offerings, observe modest dress, and close the visit with a short mantra, pradakshina, or dana where appropriate. This keeps temple travel connected to sadhana rather than only sightseeing.
