Asato Ma Sadgamaya is a Vedic peace prayer from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad. It asks to be led from untruth to truth, from darkness to light, and from mortality to immortality.
The prayer is used before study, meditation, satsang, and spiritual reflection because it names the core movement of sadhana: toward truth, clarity, and liberation.
The shloka asks the divine to guide the seeker from falsehood to truth, ignorance to illumination, and death-bound identity to the deathless reality. It is a compact moksha prayer.
