Marathi devotional songs (Abhang) of Sant Tukaram expressing love and longing for Vitthal of Pandharpur. Sung during Wari pilgrimage.
When to recite: Ashadhi and Kartiki Ekadashi (Wari), Vitthal temples, daily
This Vitthal abhang represents the Marathi Varkari devotional stream associated with Sant Tukaram and the worship of Vitthala or Panduranga of Pandharpur. Abhangs are sung during Wari pilgrimage, Ekadashi, temple bhajan, and daily nama-smarana.
The abhang tradition is direct, musical, and communal: devotees walk, sing, clap, and remember Vitthal as the Lord who stands on the brick for his bhaktas.
The song expresses longing for Vitthal, joy in Pandharpur, and the power of the divine name. It remembers the Lord as near to ordinary devotees through love and service.
