Nine-syllable root mantra of Shakta tradition. Recited during Navratri, Durga Saptashati path and all Devi worship.
नवार्ण मंत्र
When to recite: Navratri, before Durga Saptashati, all Devi worship
The Navarna Mantra, Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundayai Vicche, is a central Devi mantra associated with Durga Saptashati and Shakta worship. It invokes the power of Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, and Mahasaraswati through compact seed syllables.
The mantra is especially connected with Navratri, Chandi path, Devi puja, and the worship of Chamunda as the fierce protective form who destroys Chanda and Munda.
Aim, Hreem, and Kleem invoke the powers of wisdom, Shakti, and attraction or manifestation; Chamundayai bows to Chamunda; Vicche is traditionally understood as a cutting or piercing force that removes obstruction and negativity.
