Beej (seed) mantra of Ganesha. Removes obstacles, grants success, intelligence and blessings before any new undertaking.
ॐ गं गणपतये नमः
When to recite: Before any new work, Wednesday, Ganesh Chaturthi, daily morning
Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha is a compact Ganesha mantra used before beginnings, study, travel, writing, business work, and puja. The seed syllable Gam is associated with Ganesha's power to remove obstacles and gather the mind.
Because Ganesha is invoked first in many Hindu rituals, this mantra is especially useful as a daily opening practice. It can precede longer puja, aarti, study, or any important undertaking.
The mantra means Om, salutations to Ganapati, with Gam as the bija that invokes Ganesha's presence. It is a prayer for auspicious beginning, clear intelligence, and removal of obstacles.
