॥ दोहा ॥
मातु लक्ष्मी करि कृपा करो हृदय में वास।
मनोकामना सिद्ध कर पूरण करो आस॥

॥ चौपाई ॥
सिन्धु सुता मैं सुमिरौं तोही।
ज्ञान बुद्धि विद्या दो मोही॥
तुम समान नहिं कोई उपकारी।
सब विधि पूर्ण करहु मम आरी॥
जय लक्ष्मी रमा जगत माता।
सब के हृदय में करो निवाता॥
तुम बिन यज्ञ न होई पूरन।
सदा रहो प्रभु के ही चरन॥
कमल आसनी पद्मावती।
सदा रहो तुम नित प्रभु साथी॥
नारायण की प्रिय हो तुम भामा।
जगत पालन करहु सुख धामा॥
जहँ तहँ तुम्हरो बास घर में।
लक्ष्मी रहत नारायण पास में॥
उत्पन्न भयो सागर मन्थन से।
कमल पुष्प पर रहो हरि चरन से॥
तुम शुभ फल की हो दाता।
दरिद्र जन को जग में माता॥
शरण आया है दुखी जन।
करो कृपा प्रभु हरो अब मन॥
अन्न धन नित मोहिं दीजे।
दरिद्रता दूर ही कीजे॥
तुम महालक्ष्मी शक्ति अपारा।
तुम्हरे बिना न सृष्टि उबारा॥
जिस घर में तुम नित्य रहती।
तिस घर की सब विपदा हरती॥
शुक्र वार व्रत करो हमेशा।
मिटे क्लेश मिले सुख विशेषा॥
पुत्र पौत्र धन सम्पदा पाई।
चालीसा पढ़ जो नित जाई॥
जय जय जय लक्ष्मी भवानी।
मम हृदय में आओ कल्याणी॥

English Translation

Doha:
O Mother Lakshmi, have mercy and dwell in my heart.
Fulfill my desires and complete all my hopes.

Chaupai:
1. O daughter of the ocean, I remember you;
   Grant me knowledge, wisdom and learning.
2. None equals you as a benefactor;
   In every way, fulfill all my needs.
3. Victory to Lakshmi, Rama, Mother of the world;
   Dwell in the hearts of all.
4. Without you no yajna is complete;
   Ever remain at the feet of the Lord.
5. O lotus-seated Padmavati,
   Ever remain the companion of the Lord.
6. You are the dear consort of Narayana,
   You sustain the world and are the abode of happiness.
7. Wherever you dwell in a home,
   Lakshmi remains near Narayana.
8. Born from the churning of the ocean,
   You sat on a lotus flower at Hari's feet.
9. You are the bestower of all good fruits;
   To the poor of the world you are a mother.
10. A sorrowing person has come to your shelter;
    Have mercy, O Lord, and calm the mind.
11. Grant me food and wealth always;
    Drive poverty far away.
12. You are Mahalakshmi, of infinite power;
    Without you creation cannot be saved.
13. In whatever home you permanently reside,
    All adversity of that home is removed.
14. Always observe the Friday fast;
    Troubles are removed and special joy is obtained.
15. One who daily recites the Chalisa
    Obtains sons, grandsons, wealth and prosperity.
16. Victory, victory, victory to Lakshmi Bhavani!
    Come into my heart, O auspicious one.
