॥ दोहा ॥
जय गणपति सदगुण सदन, कविवर बदन कृपाल।
विघ्न हरण मंगल करण, जय जय गिरिजालाल॥
॥ चौपाई ॥
जय जय जय गणपति गणराजू।
मंगल भरण करण शुभ काजू॥
जय गजबदन सदन सुखदाता।
विश्व विनायक बुद्धि विधाता॥
वक्र तुण्ड शुची शुण्ड सुहावन।
तिलक त्रिपुण्ड भाल मन भावन॥
राजत मणि मुक्तन उर माला।
स्वर्ण मुकुट शिर नयन विशाला॥
पुस्तक पाणि कुठार त्रिशूलं।
मोदक भोग सुगन्धित फूलं॥
सुन्दर पीताम्बर तन साजित।
चरण पादुका मुनि मन राजित॥
धनि शिव सुवन षडानन भ्राता।
गौरी ललन विश्वविख्याता॥
ऋद्धि सिद्धि तव चँवर सुधारें।
मूषक वाहन सोहत द्वारें॥
कहौं जन्म शुभ कथा तुम्हारी।
अति शुचि पावन मंगलकारी॥
एक समय गिरिराज कुमारी।
पुत्र हेतु तप कीन्हो भारी॥
भयो यज्ञ जब पूर्ण अनूपा।
तब पहुँच्यो तुम धरि द्विज रूपा॥
अतिथि जानि कै गौरि सुखारी।
बहुविधि सेवा करी तुम्हारी॥
अति प्रसन्न है कह्यो भवानी।
माँगु माँगु वर गुणमणि ज्ञानी॥
सब प्रथम मोहि दे शिशु नाथा।
बलुआ भोला भाल विधाता॥
गणना करत तुम्हारो नाम लें।
जन्म जन्म का विघ्न हरो गण॥
अस कहि अन्तर्ध्यान रूप हो।
पलक पाँवड़े पुत्र भयो सो॥
बालक को निरखि सुखारे सुत।
मातु पिता विधि नाम धरत हैं॥
मंगल मूरति मारुत नन्दन।
गणेश जय मंगल घटस्थापन॥
विद्यारम्भ करत पूजन तव।
प्रथम पूजनीय गणेश सदा॥
सब के ऊपर पूजित होते।
सुर नर मुनि नित ध्यान धरोते॥
हाथी मुख लम्बोदर जग में।
दूसर नहीं जुग जुग सेवकगण॥
सफल करो मेरे काज प्रभु।
मेरो नाम न आवे लाज प्रभु॥
कृपा करो गणपति अति भारी।
पूर्ण करो सब आशा हमारी॥
जय जय जय विनायक महाराजा।
जग में मंगल करो सदा काजा॥
English Translation
Doha:
Victory to Ganapati, abode of good qualities, compassionate to poets.
Remover of obstacles, cause of auspiciousness — victory to the son of Girija.
Chaupai:
1. Victory, victory, victory to Ganapati, lord of the Ganas!
You fill everything with auspiciousness and complete all good works.
2. Victory to the elephant-faced one, giver of happiness,
Universal Vinayaka, creator of intellect.
3. Your curved trunk and pure, beautiful tusk,
The Tripunda mark on your forehead captivates the mind.
4. A necklace of gems and pearls adorns your chest,
A golden crown on your head, large beautiful eyes.
5. Book in one hand, axe and trident,
Modaka sweets and fragrant flowers as offerings.
6. Beautiful yellow garment adorns your body,
Sandals on your feet — sages delight in you.
7. Blessed son of Shiva, brother of Kartikeya,
Son of Gauri, renowned throughout the universe.
8. Riddhi and Siddhi hold your flywhisk;
Your mouse vehicle waits at the door.
9. Let me tell your holy birth story,
Pure, sacred and most auspicious.
10. Once the princess of the mountain king
Performed great austerity for a son.
11. When the incomparable yajna was complete,
You arrived in the form of a Brahmin.
12. Recognizing you as a guest, Gauri was overjoyed
And served you in many ways.
13. Being greatly pleased, Bhavani said,
'Ask, ask for any boon, O jewel of virtues.'
14. 'First give me a child, O Lord,
Innocent and pure-hearted, creator of destiny.'
15. Taking your name first in all counting,
Remove the obstacles of birth after birth.
16. Saying this you disappeared,
And in the blink of an eye a son was born.
17. Looking at the child, the parents were filled with joy
And gave a name as ordained by the creator.
18. Auspicious form, son of the Wind — Ganesha!
Victory to Ganesha, auspicious establishment.
19. Learning begins with your worship;
Ganesha is forever the first to be worshipped.
20. Above all others you are worshipped;
Gods, humans and sages meditate on you daily.
21. Elephant-faced, large-bellied — in the world
None other like you exists, worshipped through all ages.
22. Make my works successful, O Lord,
Let not my name come to shame, O Lord.
23. Have great mercy, O Ganapati,
Fulfill all my hopes and desires.
24. Victory, victory, victory to Vinayaka Maharaja!
