English Translation
1. No father, no mother, no relative, no giver; no son, no daughter, no servant, no husband;
No wife, no knowledge, no livelihood is mine — you alone are my refuge, my refuge, O Bhavani!
2. I am fallen in the endless ocean of worldly existence, fearful of great sorrow, deeply lustful, greedy, intoxicated;
Always bound by the nooses of evil worldly life — you alone are my refuge, my refuge, O Bhavani!
3. I know neither charity nor the yoga of meditation; I know neither tantra nor stotra or mantra;
I know neither puja nor the yoga of nyasa — you alone are my refuge, my refuge, O Bhavani!
4. I know neither merit nor pilgrimage; I know neither liberation nor dissolution, ever;
I know neither devotion nor fasting, O Mother — you alone are my refuge, my refuge, O Bhavani!
5. I am always a doer of evil deeds, in evil company, with evil intellect, an evil servant;
Without noble conduct, given to wicked behavior, with evil sight, always composing evil words —
You alone are my refuge, my refuge, O Bhavani!
6. I know neither Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh, Indra, the sun, the lord of night, nor any other;
I always take shelter only in you, O refuge — you alone are my refuge, O Bhavani!
7. In quarrel, in despair, in carelessness, while traveling; in water, in fire, on a mountain, in the midst of enemies;
In the forest, O refuge — always protect me — you alone are my refuge, O Bhavani!
8. I am without protector, poor, afflicted by old age and disease, greatly weakened, destitute, always with a dull face;
I have entered into calamity and am utterly lost — you alone are my refuge, my refuge, O Bhavani!
