English Translation
1. O Jataveda (Agni), bring to me Lakshmi of golden hue, shining like gold, wearing garlands of gold and silver, shining like the moon, golden-limbed.
2. Bring her to me, O Jataveda, that Lakshmi who never departs, through whom I may find gold, cattle, horses and men.
3. I invoke that Goddess Sri (Lakshmi), preceded by horses, surrounded by chariots, heralded by the trumpeting of elephants. May the divine Goddess Sri be pleased with me.
4. I invoke here Sri (Lakshmi), who smiles gently, who is surrounded by gold, who is moist (compassionate), blazing, satisfied and satisfying, who stands on a lotus, lotus-hued.
5. I take refuge in that lotus-dwelling one, the moon-like, shining, glorious Lakshmi — worshipped by the gods, generous in the world. May ill-luck be destroyed; I choose you.
6. O sun-colored one, born of austerity, the bilva tree is your tree — may its fruits drive away all inner and outer ill-fortune and obstacles.
7. May Devasakha (the friend of the gods) come to me along with glory and jewels. I am born in this kingdom — may he grant me glory and prosperity.
8. I destroy the elder one (Alakshmi) — the one associated with hunger, thirst and filth. Drive away from my home all poverty and lack of prosperity.
9. I invoke here Lakshmi — approached through fragrance, unconquerable, ever nourished, associated with dung (fertility), the controller of all beings.
10. May we obtain the desire of the mind, the true intent, the form of cattle and food. May Sri (Lakshmi) and glory dwell in me.
11. Through Kardama (Lakshmi's son), beings are created. O Kardama, arise within me. Make the lotus-garlanded Mother Lakshmi dwell in my lineage.
12. May the waters create nourishing things. O Chiklita (Lakshmi's son), dwell in my home. Make the divine Mother Lakshmi dwell in my lineage.
13. O Jataveda, bring to me that Lakshmi who is moist (compassionate), lotus-like, nourishing, golden-hued, lotus-garlanded, moon-like, golden.
14. O Jataveda, bring to me that Lakshmi who is moist, elephantine, magnificent, golden, wearing a golden garland, sun-like, golden.
15. Bring her to me, O Jataveda, that Lakshmi who never departs, through whom I may find abundant gold, cattle, servants, horses and men.
Whoever is pure, becomes disciplined, pours ghee in the sacred fire daily, and continuously chants this fifteen-verse sukta, their desire for Sri (Lakshmi) is always fulfilled.
