Seeking blessings of the Sun God for health, energy, good eyesight and removal of diseases.
सूर्य चालीसा
When to recite: Sunday, morning at sunrise, Chhath Puja, Makar Sankranti
Surya Chalisa is a hymn to Surya Deva, the visible solar deity associated with light, health, discipline, vitality, and righteous action. It is commonly recited on Sundays, at sunrise, during Chhath Puja, and around solar observances such as Makar Sankranti.
The chalisa praises Surya as Bhaskara and Bhanu, the giver of light and energy to the world. It fits naturally with morning worship because Surya devotion is closely tied to wakefulness, clarity, and daily discipline.
The hymn asks Surya for health, radiance, removal of disease, and the blessings of light. It remembers the seven-horse chariot, the dawn, and the Sun's role in sustaining life and dispelling darkness.
