अरुल्मिगु सुब्रमण्य स्वामी मंदिर, तिरुत्तानि
Thiruthani is the fifth of the Arupadai Veedu. It represents the place where Lord Murugan rested and attained peace (shanti) after his furious battle with Surapadman. The hill represents the pacified form of the Lord.
Mythology
After defeating the demon Surapadman, Lord Murugan's anger subsided when he reached this hill, originally known as 'Thiruthanigai' (the place of blissful rest). It is also the site where Lord Murugan married Valli, the tribal princess, after wooing her in the guise of a hunter and an old man.
