तारा तारिणी मंदिर
Tara Tarini is considered one of the four major ancient Shakti Peethas in India. It is believed to be the breast shrine of Sati. The twin goddesses Tara and Tarini are the presiding deities and are worshipped as the principal deities of the Kalinga Empire.
Mythology
According to legend, the breast of Sati fell at this Kumari Hill during the Daksha Yajna episode. Another local legend states that two beautiful sisters (Tara and Tarini) once stayed in the house of a Brahmin devotee and mysteriously vanished on the hill, revealing themselves as incarnations of the Mother Goddess.
