The temple was built by the Nar Narayan Dev Gadi of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya. Following the devastating 2001 Gujarat earthquake which destroyed the original 1822 temple built by Swaminarayan himself, this magnificent new temple was constructed nearby using pure marble and gold.
Mythology
Bhagwan Swaminarayan visited Bhuj in the early 19th century and at the request of his devotees, instructed his saints to build a temple here, making it one of the six original temples established by him.
