श्री सिद्धिविनायक मंदिर, सिद्धटेक
This is the second temple to be visited in the Ashtavinayak circuit. It is the only Ashtavinayak deity with the trunk pointing to the right. Ganeshas with right-sided trunks are called 'Siddhi Vinayak' and are considered very strict, demanding exactness in worship, but yield quick results (Siddhi).
Mythology
According to legend, Lord Vishnu was fighting the demons Madhu and Kaitabha for thousands of years but could not defeat them. Shiva instructed Vishnu to worship Ganesha. Vishnu invoked Ganesha at Siddhatek, gained 'Siddhi' (power/success), and was then able to slay the demons. The place where Vishnu attained Siddhi came to be known as Siddhatek.
