मैहर शारदा माता मंदिर
It is one of the most revered Shakti Peethas in Central India. The name 'Maihar' is derived from 'Mai' (Mother) and 'Har' (Necklace), as it is believed that Sati's necklace fell here.
Mythology
The temple is famous for the legend of Alha and Udal, two legendary Rajput warriors who were ardent devotees of Maa Sharada. It is strongly believed that Alha, who was granted the boon of immortality by the Goddess, still visits the temple every morning before the doors open, to offer the first flower to the Goddess.
