कुक्के सुब्रमण्य मंदिर
Kukke Subramanya is considered the foremost 'Naga Kshetra' (serpent abode) in India. It is extremely famous for rituals related to Sarpa Dosha (serpent curses) such as Ashlesha Bali and Sarpa Samskara.
Mythology
According to the Skanda Purana, after Lord Subramanya (Kartikeya/Murugan) defeated the demon Tarakasura, he washed his weapon at the Dhara river here. Later, Vasuki, the king of serpents, who was threatened by Garuda, sought refuge in Lord Subramanya. Subramanya offered him protection. In the temple, Subramanya is worshipped along with Vasuki, and the main idol shows Subramanya with Vasuki beneath him.
